HAIR DRESSERS

My Journey into Curl
I worked as a freelance hair stylist for many years, doing high end fashion editorials and ad campaigns. Models had very different textures and in most cases we were told to blow dry or iron curly hair, otherwise we often used wigs. I was booked to do a shoot on this particular day, and our model had super tight curly hair. The brief was to leave it in its natural texture, but to add volume and make it look more controlled and hydrated.
So out of my comfort zone, I panicked, said a lot of prayers and managed to wing my way through the shoot. I got home that night and thought, I live in a country where the majority of the population have curly hair and I don’t know how to do it! Unacceptable. So, I researched and found a school in New York, saved the money I needed to go and learn and made it happen. For the first time in my life, I feel like I’m doing what I’m meant to be doing.
Knowledge is power, and I love being part of the change
People don’t realise the journey that curly girls have taken to be fully accepted. Wearing their hair curly. The best part of what I do is seeing people fall in love with their natural texture
I have been wanting to expand my knowledge working with tighter textures for some time. There is a huge need here and worldwide to enable clients with tighter textures to feel confident and empowered. I have been a huge fan of Cut it Kinky for some time and set a goal for myself to attend a workshop with them. They are experts when it comes to all aspects of tighter textured curls.
Having completed The Tight Curl Immersion class in London, it is so empowering for me to be able to share the knowledge with my tight textured clients on how to love their hair and realize the full potential and magic of their magnificent crowns. I have been applying what I have learnt on my tighter textured clients with great success and look forward to sharing what I have learnt with you all

I am out to break the curly hair stigma: your hair is not hard to control and it is beautiful!

I began my journey in the world of curly hair care at Deva, the pioneering academy established by the renowned curl guru Lorraine Massey many years ago. Based in New York, Lorraine has since dissolved her involvement with Deva and now runs her own organization called Curly World. Her influential book, "The Curly Girl Handbook," remains a game-changer in the industry. I've had the privilege of training directly with Lorraine, deepening my understanding and expertise in curly hair care. More recently, I have trained with Cut It Kinky, a top authority on kinky coily textures, ensuring I stay at the forefront of the latest techniques and trends.
